A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.
A longstanding conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
